Vol. 3 No.1
January 5, 1998
Hello out there in Martial Arts land. I hope you all are
keeping up on your training
I want to thank you all for making K-1 one of your favorite sights for 1997. Over 600 newsletters are going out each month now. At January 1, 1998, there had been 28,400 people visit K-1. Myself and other instructors, the ones that visit with me on a regular basis via E-Mail, think that is very good for a web sight just promoting the Martial Arts.
That is 1,420 visitors a month for the past 20 months and averages are around 50 a day. I hope some of you can understand if I am slow at times getting back to you. Lots of E-Mail to answer.
The clip art is growing as fast as I can put it in. More motifs all the time. There are now over 1,100 Dojo listings from the US and from around the world. I have had some interesting countries list their dojo in the past couple months. One in Swaziland in South Africa, one in Algeria in North Africa and three in India. Europe still has the most listed with 48, second is Canada. For the US, California is in first place with 76 listed, Florida has 47, New York has 40. Still no dojo listed in the state of Mississippi.
More and more instructors are putting their students in the belt promotion area when their students are being promoted. It's always nice to see you own name and accomplishments on the World Wide Web.
Still waiting for more comments and your own history of your
style. I would love to put this up on the web to show everyone
your rendition of your style.
There are a couple of ways to get your dojo hot linked to K-1. First is to win one of our ongoing contests. Usually a contest will last for two months. Second, is to have me make one for you at a very modest cost of $40 for a basic page. Lastly, if you give me your URL to your own web page when you list your dojo or studio. I will gladly do this for everyone that has an URL. One thing that I ask in return is that you also hot link K-1 with your sight. This has been done by most, but some instructors out there have not reciprocated as of yet. If you are one of the instructor that have not linked K-1 to your sight, please do so now. By the first of February, my son Michael who finally got a computer, will go to every hot link on K-1 to see if there are links for K-1. If not, we will E-Mail and ask, and if no response, that dojo will be taken of K-1.
All of us are in the promotion of the Arts in one way or another. Some instructors that teach only one style and are hard core about it, have trouble listing another style from their sight. I am not pushing my style on anyone. I have tried to generalize K-1 to meet everyone's needs. This is your sight. I have done many things that have been asked of me if at all possible. If any one want to know, I teach Shaolin Kenpo and have been in the arts for over 27 years.
Weapons contest is still up and running. It is all about weapons. Twenty questions with graphics. Click onto the Large number and it will take you to a graphic of a weapon, use you back arrow on your browser or the back to at the bottom of the graphic. Good luck and please try it. I think it is to tough for most people. Only the top three (3) winners will receive a free web page by me.
FOOTNOTE: This must be an awful tough one. Hardly any body
has taken the time to do the contest. I have had one instructor
so far get all 20 correct. His name is Dennis Wissler. Fantastic.
Very well done Dennis.
By the way, my good friend John Kraemer and his wife Kass,
had suffered a terrible loss last month. If you are interested
in helping them out, please check out Funeral in the Current Events
Section. They would appreciate it.
Lastly, this is your page and newsletter. I try and work in
what all of you want to see and hear. Thank you and keep up the
good work
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
See ya next month
Mike
